The Isle of Cozumel is paradise on a blue-green sea, where visitors can water ski or fish by day and relax at a beach-side cantina by night. The outer rim of island is developed, with rows of fashionable restaurants and resorts, while the interior is thick with jungle vegetation and ripe for exploration. After a day spent hiking the sub-tropical Eden or snorkeling in the glistening Caribbean, those who have an appetite can head out to experience the best cuisine that Cozumel has to offer.

Chi

This Asian fusion restaurant is a favorite of the locals, a seaside attraction that boasts more than 200 menu items. Situated between Punta Langosta and the ferry pier, Chi offers diners an experience not found anywhere else in Mexico.

The menu ranges from Asian classics like wonton soup and egg foo young to the more exotic options like shark fin soup and Malaysian curry chicken. The kids' menu is decidedly tamer, with standards pork lo mein and fried rice, as well as chicken nuggets. Guests can stay cool in the air conditioned, breezy white dining room, or relax out on the patio and take in the ocean view.

Señor Frog's

In view of the cruise docks is Señor Frog's, whose motto is "save water, drink tequila." Diners can enjoy a deck table or relax in a hammock with one of the Frog's yard-long beers. This is not the restaurant to sit back and have a quiet conversation; but if diners are interested in loud music, lots of cheering, and an occasional conga line, this is the place for them.

The menu is a combination of standard Mexican and American fare, serving nachos, hamburgers, and the bar favorite, loaded potato skins. There are avocado wraps and a cobb salad for those looking for something a little lighter, but the Cajeta crepes and dessert nachos may lure calorie counters back to the dark side.

Guido's Restaurant

Though housed in a hacienda-themed building, Guido's serves exactly what guests might imagine from the name--hearty, authentic Italian cuisine. Owner and chef Yvonne Villiger is carrying on a family business that has been open since 1978. This low-lit, earth-tone decorated establishment makes diner satisfaction its highest priority, delighting in sharing milestones with the guests.

Diners can start with buttery garlic bread and beef and pesto carpaccio, move on to a hand-made fettuccini alfredo, and finish with creme brulee and espresso. Wood-fired pizzas are also a specialty of the house, ranging from the margherita, covered in tomato sauce, cheese, and basil, to the more robust four seasons, which also includes ham, mushrooms, black olives and asparagus.
