Campgrounds Near Ozona, Texas

Ozona, Texas, is a small community in the west portion of the state. Ozona is known for its mohair and wool production. The Pecos River runs near Ozona, where visitors fish for catfish, bluegill, crappie and bass. Paddlers can put in on the river and canoe or kayak its waters. Road bicyclists have many miles of country roads to tour and train on. There are several options for campgrounds and RV parks in the greater Ozona region.

Circle Bar Park

The Circle Bar Park offers sites for tent and RV travelers. There are picnic tables, fire rings, barbecue sites, bathrooms and showers available for guest use. Pets are allowed if leashed. Wildlife observers can try spotting white-tailed deer, javelina, possum and armadillos in the region. Bird watchers can keep their eyes in the sky trying to spot osprey, red-tailed and rough-legged hawks and quail. Hikers can drive to the Sonora Caverns and explore the underground trails and cave systems of the Caverns.

X Bar Ranch

The X Bar Ranch has over 15 miles of hiking and multi-use nature trails on the property. Guests staying at the X Bar can head out for a day hiking on the trails, see native wildlife and bird species and come back to the privacy of the campground and tent sites. There are hot showers and bathrooms, picnic facilities and barbecue grills for guests to use and enjoy. Pets are allowed if leashed. There is developed single track for mountain bikers at the X Bar. A night-sky observatory and "light-free" platform are available for guests to stargaze from. The National Wildlife Federation and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department have named the X Bar Ranch of the "Texas' Best Backyard Habitats."

Economy Inn and RV Park

Guests can opt to pitch and tent or park an RV at the Economy Inn's RV park. The park has sites with 50-amp electric, water and sewer connections. Tent campers can be accommodated on a space-available basis. Picnic tables and barbecue grills are at sites for guests to enjoy. Hot showers, private toilets and a coin-operated laundry are on the premises. Pets are allowed. Fort Lancaster State Park is a 30-mile drive form the Economy Inn. Visitors can hike and learn of the historic significance of Fort Lancaster.
