Ski and Ride School Trainer and Director
Ski school and ride school trainers and directors work together to ensure the quality of the resort's instructional program. They often work past the winter season to plan activities for the following ski season. The director is in charge of hiring and scheduling, whereas the trainer conducts workshops for the staff members. Both jobs require Level III Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) or American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI) certification, but the trainer must also have PSIA or AASI examiner status. Annual salaries in 2010 ranged from $35,000 and $55,000, depending on location.
Director of Marketing
The ski resort director of marketing is responsible for developing the resort website as well as the company's social networking pages. Writing skills and an in-depth knowledge of social networking are required. The marketing director also hires photographers and writers, who send out email updates to season-pass holders and press releases to journalists. Annual salaries in 2010 ranged from $40,000 to $67,000, depending on experience and location of the resort.
Accounting Jobs
Ski resorts have various types of accounting jobs. Some are in charge of a specific department, such as food and beverage, ski and ride school or lift ticket sales, and others are responsible for the entire resort operation. Previous accounting experience is required. In 2010, salaries ranged from $25,000 to $55,000. Night auditing accountants are paid less, but many people take these jobs so that they can ski in the day time.
