Texas is home to many different landscapes: desert, hills, pine forests and coastline; small towns and large cities. The Texas Hill Country is peaceful and offers hiking, fishing, historical museums and antique shopping. Fredericksburg boasts many bed and breakfasts in and around the city. Gruene, home to the oldest continuously-running Texas dance hall, is also a good place to kick back and relax. Also, South Padre Island, on the southern tip of Texas, has long stretches of beach and a bay that is filled with trout, redfish and flounder.

Fredericksburg, in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, is a wonderful place for a weekend getaway. Stroll down Main Street, where there is antique shopping. In the 1800s, many German settlers planted roots in Fredericksburg; now the town boasts great German cuisine and breweries. Drive out to Enchanted Rock, go for a hike and see the beautiful views of the Hill Country. The Main Street Bed & Breakfast is the perfect place for a romantic vacation; it is in a central location and offers suites with whirlpool tubs and a full breakfast room service. Each suite is different, but runs at around $100 from Sunday to Thursday, and about $140 over the weekend (2010 pricing). There is a large pool at the Main Street Bed & Breakfast. Don't miss the Fredericksburg peaches---the town is famous for them.
