Hawaiian Vacation Activities on Land
One of the most popular vacation activities on Hawaii's Big Island involves visiting Volcanoes National Park, where visitors can hike through a lava tube or around the caldera of Kilauea Volcano on the Crater Rim trail.
On the island of Lanai, travelers can take a 4-wheel-drive vehicle off-roading up Munro Trail to the top of Mount Lanaihele and see panoramic views of some of the other Hawaiian islands. Avid cyclists may enjoy biking from the summit of Haleakala Crater to sea level on Maui, or beginning bicyclists can join a professionally led bike tour.
Many of the Hawaiian islands, including Oahu, offer horseback riding trails and tours. Photographers can even take a guided photo safari on the island of Kauai.

Hawaiian Vacation Activities in the Water
According to the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau, the Travel Channel recently named Poipu Beach on Kauai one of the world's best beaches. On Kauai, vacationers can go surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling or deep sea fishing.
Hawaii's Big Island features kayaking and boat tours along the coastal coves or submarine tours where passengers can see dolphins, turtles and a coral reef. With Hawaii's longest barrier reef, the island of Molokai often serves as a home base for travelers who wish to dive or snorkel.
Near Molokai, you may also see humpback whales between December and April. Travelers can also enjoy windsurfing off the coast of Oahu.

Hawaiian Vacation Activities in the Air
Many popular Hawaiian vacation destinations, such as hidden waterfalls and secluded beaches, require travel by helicopter or small aircraft. Numerous tour companies offer air tours from most of the islands in Hawaii.
Helicopter tours on Hawaii's Big Island often fly over active lava flows. On Oahu, travelers can parasail above Waikiki Beach. Oahu also offers skydiving opportunities from approximately 13,000 feet above the island's North Shore. On Kauai, helicopter or aircraft passengers can fly over the Napali coastline and view canyons and waterfalls.
The movie "Jurassic Park" featured Manawaiopuna Falls from the island of Kauai.
