Comerica Park--located in the heart of downtown Detroit, is home to the Detroit Tigers and within walking distance to some of the most popular restaurants in the city. The area around Comerica Park is a wonderful part of Detroit that is a great place to bike, run or people watch, and then go grab some grub afterward.

Elwood Bar & Grill

The historic Elwood Bar & Grill has been around since 1936 and is within walking distance to Comerica Park and Ford Field. The inside is a contemporary, Art Deco diner, with red countertops and stainless steel bar stools. The restaurant features a casual, comfortable ambiance. The Elwood has indoor and outdoor (weather permitting) seating and is packed with people on game days. On the menu, you'll find a number of appetizers, soups, salads and sandwiches, including the popular Elwood Cuban with pulled pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and spicy mayo served on a hoagie bun or the Monte Cristo, with ham, turkey and Swiss cheese on sourdough bread that's dipped in egg and grilled.

Hockeytown Cafe

Located directly across the street from Comerica Park, Hockeytown Cafe has been called "The best place in town to catch the face-off, kick-off, or tip-off" by the Detroit Free Press newspaper. Hockeytown features a large number of sports games, all broadcast on 63-inch plasma televisions. The menu is loaded with appetizers, salads, burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, paninis and full entrees such as baby back ribs, pan-seared salmon and Cajun pasta. The ambiance here is lively and festive, especially on game days where the crowds are large and loud. Come early if you want to get a seat.

Angelina's Bistro

Angelina's Bistro is within walking distance to Grand Circus Park, the Detroit Opera House and Comerica Park. The ambiance is sophisticated yet casual. The menu is Italian-inspired Mediterranean and is filled with house-made hand crafted pasta's, choice beef, organic pork, free-ranged poultry and fresh seafood. The menu also is roughly 50 percent vegetarian dishes, which will bode well with the non-meat eating crowd. This focus on fresh food earns Angelina's an 89 percent approval rating on Urban Spoon from consumers. A large bar greets diners as they enter the restaurant and there is a contemporary feel to the interior decor.

Detroit Beer Co.

Detroit Beer Co. first opened in 2003 and is located within walking distance of Comerica Park. The restaurant sits in the historic Hartz Building and is a recognizable mainstay in Detroit thanks to its brick facade. The interior boasts a more modern feel, with exposed brick walls and duct work and tin ceilings. The menu includes a wide selection of eclectic American cuisine and specialty beers that are brewed in-house and named after popular Detroit attractions, such as the People Mover Porter, Detroit Dwarf and Local 1529 IPA. On the menu you'll find a large variety of appetizers, sandwiches, pizzas, pastas, soups and salads, with specialties such as Baja Fish Tacos, Louisiana Jambalaya and Spinach & Artichoke Calzone.
