The natural beauty of Florida's Nature Coast is only briefly interrupted by the civilization of Crystal River and nearby Homosassa. Each of these communities surround springs that erupt millions of cubic feet of fresh water into rivers which journey just a few short miles before emptying into the Gulf of Mexico. Crystal River is known for it's oportunities for spring and cave scuba diving--not for amateurs or the weak at heart! These communities have labored to produce a balance between human development and the natural resources which have attracted many residents. RVers looking to sample this bounty will find resorts around Crystal River ready to accommodate and facilitate this desire.

Crystal Isles RV Resort

Boat slips line the canals connected to Crystal River at Crystal Isles RV Resort. Those lacking their own boat may rent one from the resort to enjoy the fishing, swimming, and scuba diving the river offers. West Indian manatees cruise the river during winter enjoying the refuge the spring-fed waters provide. On the opposite bank of the river from the park, the Crystal River Archaeological State Park preserves the cultural heritage of the area while upriver, the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge protects the natural inhabitants of the river. The resort features full-hookup RV sites accompanied by a hot tub, pool, boat ramp, boat rentals, bath house, soft-serve ice cream, recreation center, and laundry facilities.

Lake Rousseau RV and Fishing Resort

Lake Rousseau RV and Fishing Resort is on the banks of Lake Rousseau, an elongated lake created by a dam across the Withlacoochee River. In addition to excellent fishing on the lake, guests may bike the Marjorie Harris Cross Florida Greenway on the north shore of the lake--a 110-mile trail extending from the Gulf of Mexico to the St. Johns River. A more relaxing trip can be had by tubing down the crystal-clear waters of the Rainbow River in nearby Dunnellon. This park offers 125 RV sites, some of which will handle big rigs, and all of which have full hookups with 20/30/50-amp electric and cable TV. Within the resort, guests will find Wi-Fi, a pool, bait shop, boat ramp, and canoe rentals.
