Maple Grove, Minnesota, is on the northwest outskirts of Minneapolis in an area rich in small parks and dotted with numerous lakes. The local campgrounds offer options close to the city or locations with more primitive and isolated conditions. Travelers can choose from a range of recreational activities, with camping and adventure often available within the same park.

Minneapolis Northwest KOA

The KOA is a suburban campground with a variety of sites to offer travelers, including sites in full sun or shade. Each full hookup site has free Wi-Fi and phone service as an option, for an additional fee. The park's pull-through sites can accommodate big rigs up to 75-feet long. Tent campsites and cabins are also available. LP gas and firewood are sold on site. Guests can play miniature golf and other outdoor games, relax in the heated pool or take a hayride. Fish Lake Regional Park is 5 miles from the campground. The park provides 3 miles of bike trails, plus a connection to the Medicine Lake Regional Trail. Boating and swimming are both permitted on Fish Lake.

These sites have few facilities in conjunction with their use, so guests should expect no showers and no hookups. The park has pit toilets, a well with a hand pump and an RV dump station available for an additional fee. Carver Park Reserve, home to the campground, offers 9 miles of bike trails, geocaching and boating on Lake Auburn and several surrounding lakes.
