Campgrounds Near Crestview, Florida

Crestview is between Mobile and Tallahassee in the Florida panhandle. This part of Florida is a haven for hikers and canoeing enthusiasts. The campgrounds of the area take full advantage of the depth of natural resources in the area, within state park and state forest lands.

River's Edge RV Campground

River's Edge RV Campground is 15 miles southwest of Crestview, near the Yellow River Water Management Area. The park sits along the banks of the Yellow River, offering guests a boat ramp and nature trail. The campground contains 80-foot RV spots with full hookups and pull-through access. Wi-Fi service is available, and propane and firewood are sold on-site. Travelers will also find tent camping with laundry facilities, restrooms and showers. A store and dump station are provided for guest convenience. Travelers can try the Yellow River Paddling Trail from Crestview with several put-in options and local outfitters willing to provide shuttle service for a fee.

Krul Recreation Area

Krul Recreation Area is 19 miles from Crestview, in the heart of the Blackwater River WMA. Krul offers campsites with electric service, restrooms and showers. Krul has a small lake with a swimming dock and pier. The park also offers nature enthusiasts one of the best opportunities for choice in hiking trails. Sweetwater Trail access is found within the park. The trail is short but features a suspension bridge and connects to both the 21-mile Jackson Red Ground Hiking Trail and the four-mile Bear Lake Trail that circles Bear Lake. The trail system passes through nearby recreation areas and offers shelter points along the way.

Blackwater River State Park

The Blackwater River Paddling Trail ends near Blackwater River State Park, 22 miles west of Crestview. The park offers 30 sites with full hookups. The park provides potable water, restrooms, showers and a dump station for campers and a choice of shady or sunny spots. The sites can accommodate RVs up to 45 feet long. Pets are accepted. Guests can explore the Blackwater River through canoeing or tubing. Juniper Lake Trail access is present for hikers, as are trails through undeveloped natural habitats.
