Though Philadelphia is thought of as a metropolitan area, there are nearby areas that offer any outdoor enthusiast a multitude of activities. Fort Washington provides hikers with forested trails and Jacobsburg is a great place for mountain biking. Philadelphia is also known for having a large community of Italian-Americans, so it's not surprising to discover that it has a lot of options when it comes to Italian eateries.

Salento

The atmosphere at Salento's is warm and inviting with dim lights, golden accents and white linen-topped tables. Tuesdays through Thursdays guests can enjoy a special fixed-price three-course meal. Any night, however, guests can enjoy menu items such as baked veal lasagnette, penne melanzane--penne tossed in a hearty tomato and eggplant sauce and topped with ricotta, grilled chicken smothered in sun-dried tomato pesto and topped with capers, and a herb encrusted pork tenderloin in white wine-garlic sauce. You can begin your dining experience at Salento's with a fresh arugula salad or sauteed mussels. Plus, be sure to order a side of freshly grilled vegetables with mozzarella and roasted red pepper vinaigrette.
