The Cannon Valley is located in southeast Minnesota, encompassing the towns of Cannon Falls, Welch and Redwing, as well as the Richard J. Doer Memorial Hardwood Forest. The heavily forested area is home to various lakes as well as the big and little Cannon River. Outdoor enthusiasts have many opportunities for hiking, cross-country skiing, fishing, viewing nature, boating, as well as enjoying wooded and secluded campsites in the area.

Lake Byllesby Campground

Located in Cannon Falls within the Cannon Valley is Lake Byllesby Campground. The campground is located on the shores of Lake Byllesby Reservoir. The area offers fishing, boating and canoeing opportunities. The 35 campsites offer water and electricity hookups, a fire ring and a picnic table. The tent area offers 21 wooded sites, which have a picnic table, fire ring, with some sites situated on the lake. There are restrooms, showers, a dump station and a picnic shelter. Anglers and boaters can utilize the campground's boat ramp for fishing opportunities in Lake Byllesby. Tubing and canoeing enthusiasts will enjoy the opportunities offered on the Cannon River at Cannon River Riverside Park, located approximately 4 miles away. The park also offers riverside hiking and biking trails.

Cannon Falls Campground

The heavily forested Cannon Falls Campground is located in the town of Cannon Falls, within the Cannon Valley. There are 200 campsites, which accommodate both tents and RV campers. Tent campers have 18 wooded campsites situated away from RVs. Campsites have a picnic table, fire ring and are full hookup or have electric and water. There are restrooms, showers, a dump station, a heated pool and a camp store. Lake Byllesby and the Cannon River are approximately 1 mile from the campground. The area has several public boat launches where boaters, canoeists and anglers can launch into the lake or river.

Hidden Valley Campground

Located in Welch is the 300-acre Hidden Valley Campground. Located in the RJD Memorial Hardwood State Forest, the campground has 200 wooded and private campsites. Some of the sites lie along the banks of the Cannon River. Campsites have electric, water and sewer. Tent campers have many choice in wooded, secluded sites set away from RVs. The campground has bathrooms, showers, a dump station and a camp store. Enthusiasts wanting to experience the Cannon River up close can utilize the campgrounds tube rentals and shuttle service. Hikers and bikers are adjacent to the 20-mile Cannon Valley Trail, accessible from the campground.
