Miccosukee, Florida, is northeast of Tallahassee, in an area filled with large lakes, state parks and interesting sites for those interested in history and archaeology. The campgrounds of the area offer basic accommodations and electronic entertainments, all within a day trip of many outdoor activity resources.

Tallahassee RV Park

Travelers heading 13 miles southwest of Miccosukee with find Tallahassee RV Park. The park is created with the RV traveler in mind, providing paved roads, showers and Wi-Fi service. The full hookups include cable, and phone service is available. Guests can choose a pull-through site nestled among flowers and trees. The grounds hold a pool, quiet areas and a porch with rocking chairs. Try your hand at horseshoes or head inside the rec room to scan the book exchange. The park is a short drive from necessities such as gas and groceries. Scenic Lake Miccosukee offers a pier and three boat landings. Visitors can take to the water, hike trails around the lake or walk the trail at Letchworth Mounds State Park, home of the tallest Native American mound in Florida.

Tallahassee East/Monticello KOA

The management of the KOA--19 miles southeast of Miccosukee--welcomes guests with baked goods. The parks offers RV spots, tent sites and cabins and is able to accommodate pull-throughs up to 100 feet in length. Phone service is available, along with free wireless Internet. Firewood and LP gas are sold on site. The park has a seasonal pool, nature trail and lake. Two outdoor destinations provide very different outdoor adventures, separated by just a few miles. At Wakulla Springs State Park, 43 miles south, travelers can canoe, snorkel and swim and experience the park's spring waters. Munson Hills Off-Road Bicycle Trail, 47 miles south, extends into remote parts of Apalachicola National Forest--a great ride for those who appreciate exploring a unique ecosystem in addition to pushing hard on the trail.

Sugar Mill RV Park

At Sugar Mill RV Park, 28 miles north of Miccosukee, any space is available for tent camping. The park has 131 RV sites and enjoys mild weather. The sites come with cable TV access, free wireless Internet and use of the bathhouses and laundry facility. Campers can purchase propane on site. The grounds offer three ponds and several outdoor games. Travelers might want to visit one of the many parks surrounding Miccosukee for more recreation options. Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park, 17 miles southwest of Miccosukee, has ornamental gardens, hiking and biking trail access and Lake Hall for swimming and boating. Lake Jackson Mounds Archaeological State Park, 26 miles south of Miccosukee, has several Native American mounds, artifacts on display and a hiking trail.
