The city of Beaumont sits on the banks of the Neches River in southeastern Texas. Around the turn of the 20th century, it turned into a wild boom town when oil was discovered at nearby Spindletop. Today, Beaumont is proud of its history as an oil town and a commercial center and of its Texas Cajun culture. Visitors can stay in the campgrounds in Beaumont and make trips to nearby attractions, including the Gulf of Mexico coast.
