San Carlos, Mexico is a quiet community situated where the Sea of Cortez meets the Sonoran Desert. San Carlos is popular with boating and fishing enthusiasts and scuba divers. There are several marinas and boat docks, and local outfitters offer a variety of fishing charters and kayaking excursions. Two artificial reefs and several shipwrecks provide habitat for more than 800 marine species and are popular venues for scuba diving and snorkeling adventures. Horseback riding, golf and biking are also top outdoor pursuits.

Big rigs are welcome at this RV park on the water in San Carlos. The property has 130 sites with full hookups (including 30 amp electrical service) and cable TV. Wi-Fi is also available. Campers can walk to the beach and it's a short drive into town, where you'll find a cluster of shops and restaurants. The resort has a heated pool with an outdoor whirlpool spa, a clubhouse, a bathhouse with hot showers, a guest laundry and a fish cleaning station. The owners offer free beginning Spanish lessons and Mexican history workshops, as well as guided tours to Guaymas Market.

El Mirador RV Park

This RV park is less than 2 miles north of downtown San Carlos. There are 90 spacious sites with full hookups (30 amp electrical service) and cable TV. Campers have ocean views and it's an easy walk to a sandy Sea of Cortez beach from the resort. The park offers free Wi-Fi, tennis courts, an outdoor whirlpool spa, a swimming pool, a full-service restaurant and a guest laundry. Sites are available to rent on a nightly, weekly or monthly basis. No tents are allowed.

Hacienda Tetakawi RV Park

Part of the Best Western Tetakawi hotel property, this RV park includes many resort-style amenities. A restaurant, lounge and snack bar at the hotel are footsteps from the campground. Campers can walk across the street to a small beach on the Sea of Cortez and two local restaurants are within walking distance. The RV park is about 15 miles from downtown San Carlos. It has 40 open sites with full hookups and campers can rent sites by the day, week or month.
