Campgrounds near Fairfax, Minnesota
Fairfax is a small rural community located in central southern Minnesota. Campers will find several campgrounds in the surrounding area that are close to the area's recreational activities, which include fishing in the Minnesota River and hiking in Fort Ridgely State Park.

Jackpot Junction RV Park

Jackpot Junction RV Park is located 16 miles west of Fairfax in Morton, Minnesota. It offers 70 full-hookup sites that include a picnic table and fire ring along with cable TV and wireless Internet. There is a modern restroom building with private showers along with a picnic pavilion with barbecue grills. Guests will find several walking trails that run around the casino and RV park that includes a dog walking area. Other amenities accessible to guests are an indoor pool, kiddie pool and sauna located in the hotel adjacent to the park. The Minnesota River is less than two miles away, where guests can enjoy boating or fishing for catfish and bass.

Fort Ridgely State Park

Fort Ridgely State Park is located four miles south of downtown Fairfax and offers 39 camp sites. Sites include rustic and electric hookup sites and have picnic tables and fire rings along with a central water filling station. The campground has modern restrooms with private showers and vault toilets. There are eight miles of hiking trails that traverse the woods and fields of the park as well as 10 miles of horse trails. The park is open in the year-round, and in winter the trails can be used for snowmobiling and cross country skiing.

Other amenities include a playground, picnic pavilion and volleyball court along with a nine-hole golf course that has narrow, woods-lined fairways and measures 2,739 yards.

Flandrau State Park

Flandrau State Park is located 26 miles south of Fairfax in New Ulm, Minnesota. It offers 92 camp sites that are located in three areas of the park and include electric and rustic sites with picnic tables and fire rings. There are three modern restroom buildings with private showers as well as several vault toilets spread through the park. The Cottonwood River runs through the park and is the site of a swimming beach for guests as well as many fishing access points. There are eight miles of hiking trails that run through the forest of the park as well as along the Cottonwood River. Other amenities include a playground, a picnic shelter and volleyball and horseshoe courts.
