Montello, Nevada, is located 176 miles west of Salt Lake City, along the Nevada-Utah Border. This area is known primarily for the Bonneville Salt Flats, which have been used to set numerous land-speed records. The rugged mountain ranges in this part of Nevada, provide numerous outdoor recreational opportunities. Alpine lakes offer fishing, canoeing and kayaking. The Ruby and Pilot mountains provide miles of hiking and challenging peaks to climb.

Angel Lake RV Park

Angel Lake RV Park offers tent and RV sites. RV sites feature water, sewer and 20-, 30- and 50-amp electrical service. Showers and laundry facilities are available on site in addition to Wi-Fi Internet services. Daily, weekly and monthly rates are available. Hiking is a popular activity as is cycling in the small town of Wells, which is located nearby.

Humboldt National Forest

The Ruby Mountains Ranger District of the Humboldt National Forest is made up of 450,000 acres of mountains ranging in elevation from 6,000 feet to 11,387 feet. There are four campsites located within the district, but the Angel Creek and Angel Lake campsites are closest to Montello. Angel Creek features 19 sites, and Angel Lake features 37 sites. Both campgrounds feature drinking water and vault toilets. Fishing and hiking are popular outdoor activities, and more than 90 miles of trails can be accessed from the trailhead at Angel Lake.

Wendover KOA

Wendover KOA features tent and RV sites in addition to cabin rentals. The maximum length for pull-through RV sites is 80 feet, and hookups for water, sewer and up to 50-amp electrical service are available. Wireless Internet is available at select sites. Fishing is popular at Wendover KOA at nearby Blue Lake, which has bass and bluegill in addition to hiking, mountain biking, scuba diving and bird-watching. The Crittenden Reservoir offers managed trout and bass fishing as well as hiking and mountain biking. Hiking and mountain climbing is popular around Pilot Peak, which at 6,400 feet is the highest point in the Pilot Range.
