The city of Cranbrook, British Columbia, is the largest city in the Rocky Mountain area. The region is surrounded by mountains, as well as the lush Columbia Valley. Numerous hiking options are available at parks surrounding the region as well as fishing for trout at the many lakes and rivers. You will find a number of RV parks in the area. Some are located in the middle of the city, while others are located outside of town, close to parks and rivers.

Cranbrook City Centre

As its name suggests, Cranbrook City Centre Campgrounds is ideally situated in the middle of town. The campgrounds have 90 sites in total. Of those 90 sites, 40 sites have full hookups, and the remaining 50 sites have no hookups. In addition, you will also find tenting facilities and a dump station. Recreational facilities are limited at City Centre, with just a sports field on site. However, there are some excellent outdoors activities close by, such as the Top of the World Provincial Park, which is located just 25 miles away and offers such activities as hiking and fishing. Cranbrook City Centre Campgrounds is open from May 1 to Sept. 15.

Mount Baker RV Park

Mount Baker RV Park is another RV park located in the center of Cranbrook. The park has 70 sites in total. Forty-five sites have full hookups, eight sites have just water and electrical hookups, and the remaining 17 sites have no hookups. Electrical hookups are available at 15 or 30 amps, with 50 amps available for a fee. Other facilities include 11 pull-throughs, a dump station, laundry facilities and picnic tables. Cable TV and Wi-Fi Internet access also are available. Idlewild Park is a little more than a half a mile away and has a lake for fishing as well as numerous hiking trails. Mount Baker is open from April 1 to Oct. 31. Pets are welcome at the park, however, certain breed restrictions do apply.

Fort Steele Resort & RV Park

Fort Steel is located just north of the city of Cranbrook. The RV park has more than 200 sites, some with full hookups. Electrical hookups are available at 15/30/50 amps. Fort Steele also has areas for tents and log cabin rentals. In addition, you will find picnic tables, laundry facilities, a dump station and a small convenience store. Other amenities include a heated swimming pool, a playground and a game room. Outdoor activities available nearby include hiking and whitewater rafting at the river just minutes away from the RV resort.
