Monroe, Michigan, is located between Detroit, Michigan and Toledo, Ohio, on the edge of Lake Erie. The city of Monroe offers a wealth of activities including state parks, trails and outdoor sports. Camping is popular in the area because of Monroe's central location and nearby Lake Erie. These Monroe, Michigan, campgrounds are family oriented and most have inclusive activities within the park.

Harbortown RV Park and Campground

The Harbortown RV Resort is a great resort for those who enjoy camping, the outdoors and aquatic activities. The campground boasts more than 250 campsites for RV hookups. While the site doesn't encourage tents alone--they are welcome along with a paid full hookup RV site for an extra $5 a night. Harbortown also offers deluxe cabins for rent. Sleeping up to eight, these cabins have more than 400 square feet of comfortable convenience including a bedroom with queen bed, sleeping loft and a fold out bed in the living room. A kitchen, shower, TV and air-conditioner also are included for $147 a night. Aside from being only a few feet from Lake Erie, there are plenty of outdoor activities to do right at the park. Harbortown has a family entertainment center that contains a go-kart track, miniature golf, baseball batting cages and arcade. It has a heated swimming pool for those who prefer to relax after a long day of hiking and recreational activities. Amenities on site also include a laundry center, a camp store full of camping goods, showers and picnic areas.

William C. Sterling State Park

The William C. Sterling State Park is also located in Monroe, Michigan. It is a state park campground that also offers a great deal of amenities. This park offers public access with a large 1-mile long beach directly on Lake Erie. At 1,300 acres, the park has plenty of fishing lagoons and areas for boat access to the lake. A 6-mile-long trail winds around the back part of the park and includes a wildlife observation area in a Lake Erie lagoon to observe marine life. There is a permit to get into the park because it is a Michigan State Park. The fee is $6 a day or $24 for the year. With more than 250 sites including rustic, there is the perfect location for every camper. Sites are also available directly on Lake Erie. There is a picnic shelter, showers and restrooms for campers. Campsites range between $22 for a primitive site to $33 a night between April and October.

Camp Lord Willing Management RV Park & Campground

The Camp Lord Willing Management RV Park and Campground is a year-round campground that offers 100 camping lots available for RVs. This campground offers wooded sites and waterfront-views sites. There is a coin laundry on site along with clean restrooms and showers. Each site is large and spacious, and the campground offers six exclusive sites for pull-through RVs. There is a pond in the center of the campground offering catch-and-release fishing and paddle boat accessibility. Rates start at $35 a night up to $42. Seasonal rates are available for those who wish to stay more than a week.
