Tucked between bustling Myrtle Beach and Wilmington, North Carolina, this quiet barrier beach town is close to a plethora of water sports and activities. Stroll the nine-mile sandy beach, jump on a deep-sea fishing charter, or try your luck landing a catch off the local fishing pier. Local outfitters also offer parasailing and water-skiing excursions and guided kayaking trips along the Intracoastal Waterway.

Campers at this RV resort are a short drive from Holden Beach and activities such as water skiing, parasailing, fishing and swimming in the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. Both shaded and open sites are available for rent on a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis. Sites feature full hookups (water, electrical and sewer). There are also tent sites with electrical service and additional sites with no service. There are several picnic areas on the property, barbecue grills for campers to use and a bathhouse with hot showers and guest laundry.

Shallotte/Brunswick Beaches KOA

This family-owned campground is about 25 miles from Holden Beach and a short drive to South Brunswick beaches. RV sites have full hookups with 100 amp service and can accommodate RVs up to 90 feet. There are also tent sites and cabin rentals. The property has an outdoor swimming pool, stocked fishing pond, convenience store, picnic areas, sports fields (horseshoes, volleyball and basketball), barbecue grills and a kitchen facility. The campground has rental bikes and hosts special events and planned activities throughout the summer, including potluck dinners, ice cream socials, and arts and crafts.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park

This bustling, family-friendly campground sits on rolling farmland, between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach and is less than 30 miles from Holden Beach. Shaded RV sites have full hookups, concrete pads, picnic tables and barbecue grills. No-service tent sites as well as cabin and yurt rentals are also available. The property has several stocked ponds for fishing, an outdoor pool with slides and water features, an adult lap pool, sports fields, bike track, indoor theater, game room and sports fields. There is gem mining on the property and a network of hiking trails. The campground hosts several themed weekends and planned activities, including concerts, parades, cookouts and dances.
