Stoney Creek, Ontario was once its own community but has since been amalgamated by the larger city of Hamilton, in the southern portion of the province. The area is near Niagara Falls, and the Great Lakes. Fishing, hiking, mountain biking and canoeing are all found in the surrounding region. The Great Lakes have opportunities for sailing and scuba diving. There are several campgrounds in the greater Stoney Creek area.

Bronte Creek Provincial Park

Guests camping at Bronte Creek Provincial Park can take in interpretive events on farming life from the 1890s. There are hiking trails, mountain biking routes and a farm-animal petting area. Bronte Creek runs through the campground making for convenient fishing and canoeing opportunities for guests staying in the park. Tent sites include picnic tables and freshwater spigots. Flush toilets and showers are on the premises for guest use. Pets are welcome (visitors driving in from the U.S. with pets need to bring health certificates and license papers for the pets.) In winter, Bronte Creek has groomed cross-country ski trails and areas for snowshoeing.

Gulliver's Lake Park

Gulliver's Lake Park is a popular park for triathletes and divers. There are numerous events for triathlon training at the park, and an area for dive training. Tent campers and RV Travelers can stay at sites with picnic facilities, barbecue grills, and access to hot showers and bathrooms. Pets are allowed. During the early autumn there are horse-drawn wagon rides through the fall foliage. Hiking trails, mountain bike riding and road bicycling are available from the resort. Canoeing and kayaking can be found at the nearby lakes of the region.

Dressel's Jordan Valley Campground

Tent campers are welcome at Dressel's Jordan Valley Campground. Tent sites are on grassy, flat and level areas. Picnic tables and fire rings are at each site. Bathrooms, showers, guest house and gazebo, a laundry room and freshwater spigots are on the campground property for guest use. Pets are welcome if leashed. The Water Front Trails takes hikers and bikers along the water front of the nearby Great Lakes. Ontario Wine country is within a 30-minute drive for those wishing to sample and taste the locally-produced wine. Sailing charters can be hired for trips onto Lake Erie. Niagara Falls is within an hour drive.
