Campgrounds Near Norris, Tennessee

Norris is a city located in eastern Tennessee that is near a number of state parks, such as the 4,038-acre Norris Dam State Park and the 3,687-acre Big Ridge State Park. Fishing and boating enthusiasts will also want to visit Norris Reservoir. You will find a number of campgrounds located along the reservoir, surrounded by hiking trails.

Big Ridge State Park

Big Ridge State Park has 52 sites, all offering water and 50-amp electrical hookups, and three are pull-through sites. There are also cabins, a dump station and laundry facilities. The campground is located along the shores of Norris Lake, offering such recreational activities as swimming, boating (the lake has a boat ramp), paddling and lake fishing. Bluegill and largemouth bass are just some of the types of fish that you will find stocked in Norris Lake. In addition, the park has rowboats, canoes and pedal boats for rent. The campground is open year round, and pets are welcome as long as they are kept on a leash.

Loyston Point

Loyston Point campground is located along Norris Reservoir. The campground has 64 sites, 39 with electrical hookups and the remaining 25 sites with no hookups. Other features include eight pull-through sites, a dump station, heated showers, flush toilets and tenting. Activities along Norris Reservoir include swimming, boating, fishing and hiking along some of the trails around the reservoir. One popular trail near Loyston Point is Hemlock Bluff National Recreation Trail, a 7-mile loop along the reservoir. Loyston Point is open from mid-March to mid-November.

Norris Dam State Park

Norris Dam State Park offers yet another popular campground close to Norris Lake. The campground has 85 sites, 75 of which offer water and electrical hookups (20/30 amps) while the remaining 10 sites have no hookups. In addition, you will find tenting, cabins, propane gas and laundry facilities at the campground. Recreational amenities at Norris Dam State Park include tennis and volleyball courts and a playground. You will also find numerous hiking trails along the lake, and a marina for boating. Lake fishing is available at the reservoir, which is home to rainbow and brown trout. Norris Dam State Park is open year round, but is fully operational between mid-April and mid-November. Pets are welcome.
