Rayburn Park

Rayburn Park sits on the northern shore of Sam Rayburn Reservoir and offers 45 sites. Only a few of these are pull-through sites with 50-amp electric service. The rest of the spots are 30-amp sites with partial hookups. Almost half of the sites have no hookups to offer. Certain site groupings are open seasonally, but one set of campsites remains open all year. Reservations are accepted. The park grounds contain a dump station, showers and vault and flush toilet restrooms. Three launch areas provide access to the reservoir for boating. Geocache hunting is allowed onsite. The park is 35 miles south of Etoile. For more options, backpacking and primitive camping are allowed anywhere in the Angelina National Forest.

Hanks Creek Park, 26 miles south of Etoile, is on the northwest side of Sam Rayburn Reservoir. The park provides 49 sites with partial hookups and a limited number of those sites offer 50-amp electric service. A few sites also offer screened shelters alongside RV slots and a group RV camp is available. The camping area is closed to vehicle traffic at night to protect campers and keep the park peaceful for guests. Restrooms and showers and a dump station are furnished near the sites. The park has a swimming beach and open fields for outdoor activities. A boat ramp and dock serve guests who wish to use the reservoir. Metal detectors are allowed on this park's beach, for travelers who like to hunt for treasure.
