RV Parks Near Aspen, CO

The famous winter sports area that includes Aspen, Colorado, is actually part of the Aspen and Crystal River Valley, comprising Aspen, Snowmass Village, Redstone, Basalt and Carbondale. Although the city itself has none, there are several RV parks near Aspen that the traveler can find by driving about 19 miles to Basalt or 31 miles to Carbondale.

Aspen-Basalt Campground

This year-round campground is located on Highway 82, halfway between Aspen and Glenwood Springs, up the road from Snowmass Village. The campground features an outdoor pool, hot tub, laundry facilities and 18 partial-hookup sites with electric and water as well as 57 full-hookup sites. Big-rig owners will find that about 57 sites have sufficient room for RVs with slide-outs and also provide 45 feet of pull-through space. All sites offer free Wi-Fi Internet. A children's playground is onsite, as are arcade games and an open fire pit. Campers may bring well-trained pets and walk leashed dogs and cats within the campground. The national forest, golf course and restaurants are a five-minute drive away, while a fishing lake, jeep rentals and mountain bike trails are 25 to 30 minutes away. Nightly rates for 2010 range from $40 to $45 per couple.

BRB Crystal River Resort

A little closer to Glenwood Springs, the pet-friendly BRB Crystal River Resort is located on Highway 133. This campground welcomes RVers and tent campers and also offers cabin rentals. Visitors will find almost all of the 24 RV sites situated along the Crystal River banks. Each site features a picnic table, fire pit, water and electric hookups as well as a grill. Campers visiting this resort in 2010 should expect to pay $36 per night for a campsite occupied by two campers; additional campers must pay $3 per person.

Mollie B/White River Campground

This seasonal campground remains open between May 25 and September 30; it features 68 RV sites and a dump station, a swim lake, boat launch ramp, fishing and also water skiing opportunities. The sites do not offer any hookups, but hot and cold water sinks, flush toilets, and pressurized water are available throughout the campground. Since this park is on public land in the Sopris Ranger district, guests may stay only a maximum of 14 days during any 60-day period. For 2010, the nightly rates range from $16 to $19.
