Texas is renowned for both its golf courses and resorts, and you'll find different opinions on what comprises the best golf package in the Lone Star State. The Westin La Cantera Resort

Located in the hills above San Antonio, the Westin La Cantera Resort has two courses: the 18-hole Resort Course, and the Palmer Course designed by Arnold Palmer. La Cantera's Guys' Power Golf Weekend package includes beer and chips, golfing discount, and late checkout. The La Cantera Golf Package includes accommodations, unlimited golf for one, and daily breakfast for two at the resort's Brannon's restaurant. The Shop & Play package includes the same features as the Golf Package with the addition of a $100 gift card to The Shops at La Cantera. The beautiful resort offers six pools, three hot tubs, a spa and health club, tennis courts, a kids club, and seven dining and lounge choices.

JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa

JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa is the featured Texas Golf Packages Stay & Play Package on World Golf.com (worldgolf.com/golf-packages/texas.htm).

Newly opened in January 2010, the JW Marriott is the new home of the Valero Texas Open and boasts a 36-hole TPC San Antonio golf course. The Stay and Play golf package includes a deluxe guest room, buffet breakfast for two in the hotel's Southwestern-cuisine Cibolo Moon restaurant, and one round of golf with golf cart and range balls. Other on-site restaurants include the 18 Oaks steakhouse, Rivertop Bar & Grill, an American-style bistro, a bar serving Tex-Mex cuisine, and a Starbucks. Each of the spacious guest rooms is 460 square feet and includes such amenities as a mini-refrigerator, 37-inch LCD HDTV and a balcony. Barton Creek Resort

Barton Creek Resort is the Texas golf resort highlighted on the Travel + Leisure website travelandleisure.com/articles/golf-fall-passions/2.

Barton Creek offers four golf packages and each includes accommodations at the luxurious resort and daily breakfast in the resort's Hill Country Dining Room. The Unlimited Championship Golf package offers unlimited golf on the Crenshaw Cliffside or Palmer Lakeside courses.
