Casa Howard
Situated on the second floor of an ancient palazzo, Casa Howard is within walking distance of the Spanish Steps. Each room comes equipped with satellite television, air conditioning, wireless Internet access, hair dryers and tea and coffee-making facilities. In addition, there is a Turkish Hammam bath on the premises that can fit up to three people at a time. If the Via Sistina location happens to be overbooked, the Casa Howard has another location right around the corner that may have rooms available. While there is a live-in housekeeper, note that there is no reception area; rather, you will be given your own set of keys to look after during your stay in Rome.

Hotel Panda
The Hotel Panda is one of the oldest hotels near the Spanish Steps, housed in a building dating from the nineteenth century. Rooms come equipped with air conditioning, direct dial telephones, wireless Internet access and maps of Rome. In addition, the hotel can arrange for a limo service to and from the airport. Note that there is no elevator on the premises, so this isn't a good option for disabled guests. There is also no breakfast served in the morning. But the price is definitely worth it---according to "Time Out Rome," this is one of the cheapest accommodation options you can find in Rome's historical center. Be sure to reserve far in advance, though, as rooms tend to go quick, especially during the high season.
