DeKalb County, Georgia, is in the northern part of the state and near the North Georgia Mountains. Visitors to DeKalb County can enjoy urban delights in metropolitan Atlanta, and backcountry pursuits on the region's many lakes and in the forests. The South River, Peachtree Creek and Nancy Creek run through the county and visitors can enjoy canoeing, inner-tubing, kayaking and fishing. Stone Mountain Park

Stone Mountain Park has sites for most sizes of RV. There are pull-through and back-in sites. Standard hookups include 30- or 50-amp electric, water, sewer, cable TV and Wi-Fi. There are showers, bathrooms, picnic facilities, barbecue grills and a laundry room on the premises for guest use and comfort. Pets are allowed if leashed. The archaeology of Soapstone Ridge is within a 45-minute drive. Hikers can enjoy the trails in this natural wonder, and learn of the formation of soapstone cliffs.

Jones RV Park

Jones RV Park offers RV travelers a range of services and amenities as well as sites for most vehicle sizes. Hookups include water, sewer, cable TV and 30- or 50-amp electric connections at each site. Pets are welcome but should be leashed while in the park. Wi-Fi is available. Bathrooms, showers, barbecue grills, picnic tables and a coin-operated laundry facility are on the grounds for guest use. Hikers can head to Stone Mountain Park and try the Cherokee Trail, a five-mile loop that goes through Hickory and Oak forests.

Lake Lanier Island Resort

Lake Lanier Island Resort has a campground for RV and tent campers. RV sites have standard 30- or 50-amp electric, water and sewer connections. There are cable TV and Wi-Fi hookups available. Pets are welcome. There are off-leash dog play areas. Guests can enjoy fishing, canoeing, kayak-touring and swimming right from the resort's grounds. Showers, bathrooms and laundry are on the premises, and guests may use the boat ramps, fishing pier and fish-cleaning stations. Boat rentals are available at the marina.
