Campgrounds in Summit, Michigan

Summit, Michigan, is located on the western edge of the state, on the shores of Lake Michigan. For those interested in outdoor activities, such as swimming, fishing and boating, the lake offers plenty of opportunities. In addition, the Manistee National Forest is also nearby, which has plenty of hiking trails, as well as camping, boating, biking and other activities.

Kibby Creek Campground

Close to Lake Michigan right off of Highway 31 is the Kibby Creek Campground. Kibby Creek has 109 campsites. Most have full hookups available for recreational vehicles, and 10 are pull-through sites with water and electricity. Three sites are considered rentals. The campground also has restrooms and showers, a laundry facility, a heated swimming pool, playground, mini-golf course, game room, shuffleboard, horseshoe-throwing, volleyball, basketball, fishing ponds, a general store and a Kiddy Express ride.

Whispering Surf Camping Resort

Close to the beach is Whispering Surf Camping Resort. Open between May and October, all of the RV campsites have full hookups and cable TV. The resort also has free Wi-Fi internet access, an Internet cafe, a private beach and dock on Bass Lake, shower and restroom facilities, a clubhouse, playground and fishing. Visitors can also rent pedal boats, canoes and kayaks.

Hill and Hollow Campground

Also close to the beach is the Hill and Hollow Campground. There are 224 campsites on the property, which have electrical hookups, picnic tables, and fire pits. Open between May and October, the campground has shower and restroom facilities, Wi-Fi internet access, two heated swimming pools, dump stations, a fish-cleaning station, basketball courts, volleyball courts, a softball field, and horseshoe-throwing pits. There is also a camp store and cafe on site.

Charles Mears State Park

Located right on the beach of Lake Michigan is Charles Mears State Park. The park has a campground with 175 sites. Some of the sites are shaded and some sunny. Electrical service is available, as well as restroom facilities that are handicap accessible. There is a dump station, playground, a beach house, a lighthouse, picnic areas, and Wi-Fi internet access. The park also has a beach for swimming and for boating.
