Campgrounds in Eagar, Arizona
Located in the White Mountains of Arizona, surrounded by the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, this town is a mecca for outdoor lovers. The pine-studded mountains are crisscrossed with hiking trails and dotted with mountain streams and lakes. Hike among some of the tallest ponderosa pines in the world, or go fly-fishing for trophy trout on Crescent Lake or the Bunch Reservoir. There's also snowmobiling, skiing at nearby Sunrise Ski Resort and a network of cross-country trails. Visit the Springerville Volcanic Field, dating back to prehistoric times, and the nearby Petrified Forest National Park.

South Fork Campground

Set at 7,928 feet elevation, this Apache Sitgreaves National Forest campground is nestled along the South Fork of the Little Colorado River. It's about 16 miles from Eagar. Rustic sites (there are no water, electrical or sewer hookups) are located under stands of ponderosa pines. The campground can accommodate RVs up to 32 feet. All campsites have picnic tables, barbecue grills and fire rings. There are safe drinking-water faucets throughout the campground (stream water is not safe to drink). There are no bathrooms and showers, but vault toilets are located in several areas of the campground. Campers can hike the South Fork Trail, which originates in the campground, following the river to Mexican Hay Lake. It's a 14-mile round-trip.

Rolfe C. Hoyer Campground

The popular Hoyer campground, two miles from the resort town of Greer and less than 20 miles from Eagar, is set under stands of ponderosa pines. Campers are within walking distance to Greer Lake and the Little Colorado River; both are popular with anglers. The campground also offers programs in the on-site amphitheater and guided nature walks. The campground, located at 8.300 feet elevation, has rustic sites (no water, electrical or sewer hookups are available) for tents and motorhomes up to 32 feet. Each site has a picnic table, firepit and barbecue grill. There are portable toilets, a dump station and a hot-shower facility at the campground.

Benny Creek Campground

This rustic campground, with no hookups, is located in the Apache National Forest, about 20 miles from the town of Eagar. The campground sits at an elevation of 8,250 feet above sea level and within walking distance to Bunch Reservoir. There are 24 campsites with a picnic table, barbecue grill and fire pit. Vault toilets and drinking water are available.
