Tourists visit Williams, Arizona, for two main reasons: beautiful high desert country and the town's proximity to the Grand Canyon. Within a few hours' drive from Williams are Montezuma's Castle, Meteor Crater and other national parks.

The public campgrounds nearest the center of Williams are at Cataract Lake. On one side of the lake--and abutting Elephant Rocks Golf Course--are nearly 25 primitive campsites, good for tents and RVs up to 16 feet. On the opposite side are 34 additional and similar campsites, plus the 24-hour camp attendant. Water, pit toilets and no showers mean you're camping out; the nightly fee reflects the campground's simplicity. Cataract Lake County Park offers both fishing and boating.
