Fort Drum Marsh Recreation Center
Fort Drum Marsh Recreation Center lies about 20 miles west of Vero Beach. Fort Drum Marsh offers a diverse collection of wetland and prairie hikes. The area shelters a diverse group of wildlife including sandhill cranes, wood storks, bald eagles, deer, turkey and feral hogs. There is a picnic area and primitive campgrounds at Hog Island.

Gifford Aquatics Center
The family friendly Gifford Aquatics Center features a large pool that holds 149 swimmers and kiddie "sprayground." The center's deck offers cool spots, human chess and checker boards and other activities. The center also has water aerobics classes.

Biking and Kayaking
Vero Beach's spectacular blue ocean is made for exploring on Kayak. The seas are generally calm and kayaks are a great way to get close to marine life like sea turtles and grouper. If you want some outdoor recreation on dry land, explore Vero Beach's picturesque neighborhood on a bike.

The waters off Vero Beach provide year-round fishing opportunities. The waters off Sebastian Inlet are deep and attract grouper, snapper, and king mackerel. Venture further out to catch dolphin, wahoo, tuna and marlin. If you don't have a boat, many companies offer half day and full day charters or try your luck from land at Sebastian Inlet Park.
