Although these two cities are separated only by about 325 miles, getting from Calgary, Canada to Great Falls, Montana can be difficult. The upside is the area between the two cities is made up of beautiful Rocky Mountain terrain, making for incredible views.

Airport Shuttle Express

Operating since 1998, Airport Shuttle Express offers year-round daily shuttle bus service between Calgary International Airport or downtown Calgary and most locations in Montana, including Great Falls. Airport Shuttle Express is licensed and fully insured.

The trip, on spacious passenger mini-buses/vans, takes about seven to eight hours. This is the most direct route between Calgary and Great Falls. The trip leaves from Calgary and stops at the border, where wait times can be "quick" or last more than an hour. There are coffee breaks along the way.

Airport Shuttle Express works with Rimrock Stages Trailways in Montana to provide connecting service to Billings, Missoula and other parts of Montana. You can also arrange for Airport Shuttle Express to connect with Amtrak stations in northern Montana. Other drop-off locations include area hotels and car rental companies.

Greyhound

Greyhound has service from Calgary, Canada to Great Falls, Montana. However, it is not a direct service. The service involves three transfers, including a three-hour layover in Vancouver, British Columbia, and a five-hour layover in Butte, Montana, which turns a seven-hour trip into almost a two-day affair. The trip from Calgary to the west coast (Vancouver) and back to Great Falls (which is south and a bit east of Calgary), takes you 1,060 miles out of your way; however, the journey takes in such cities as Vancouver, Seattle and Missoula. So, if you have the extra time, it may be worth it to explore destinations along the way.

Greyhound is known for its reliability and offers safe and affordable travel to 6.5 million passengers in Canada every year. Greyhound's services are aboard late model, fuel-efficient motor coaches with lots of leg room. Some models include movieviewing monitors for guests' enjoyment.

Freedom West Tours/Shuttle Combination

Freedom West Tours is a company run by a Christian family that offers bus tours out of Calgary, Canada. The tours run to Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada, situated near Glacier National Park in Montana. Since it is a tour bus, though, there are many stops along the way and the trip takes 12 to 14 hours. There is a four-person minimum to take this tour. Once in Waterton Lakes National Park, guests can board a shuttle system that connects the two parks. In Glacier National Park, visitors can catch a shuttle bus or taxi to Great Falls, Montana.

Since the trip is so long, you may want to break the journey at Glacier National Park. There are several hotels in St. Marys on the east side of the park. Book ahead of time, especially in the busy summer months, to ensure a room.
