Port Hope is a small city in Ontario, which is a province of Canada. The city is on the banks of the Ganaraska River where it empties into Lake Ontario. Four hiking or walking trails are in the area, including the Ganaraska Hiking Trail, which is a 500 km trail that starts at the lawn of the Port Hope Town Hall. Port Hope also has several choices for accommodations.

Comfort Inn

The Comfort Inn is three miles from Lake Ontario and is the only hotel in Port Hope able to cater to large groups. The hotel has a finess center, free continental breakfast, picnic area, free Wi-Fi, fax and copy services and free parking with spaces for trucks and buses. Harvey's Restaurant and the Swiss Chalet barbecue restaurant are both on the premises. Each of the 90 rooms include cable television. Rooms with whirlpool tubs or microwave ovens are also available. Pets are welcome.

Hill & Dale Manor

The Hill & Dale Manor is a two-story house that was built in the 1850s. Each of the six rooms includes antique furniture. Four rooms have fireplaces. A free breakfast is served each morning. The Palm Restaurant, Port Hope Town Hall and the Ganaraska River are within walking distance. Lake Ontario is a half-mile away.

Dr. Corbett's Inn

Dr. Corbett's Inn was built in 1857 and the Carlyle Inn was its former name. Dining options include The Palm Restaurant and the Atrium, which feature a wide range of gourmet cuisine. A free breakfast is served each morning. Each of the eight rooms comes with air conditioning and televisions with VCRs. The honeymoon suite has a large corner Jacuzzi. The inn is two blocks from the Hill & Dale Manor.

Lantern Inn

The original portion of the Lantern Inn was built in 1845 and each of the 19 rooms has handcrafted Canadian furniture from that era. The fabrics and colors are in keeping with the time as well. Each room has air conditioning and some rooms also have fully equipped kitchenettes, fireplaces or private balconies overlooking the Ganaraska River. The inn serves breakfast and lunch on the riverside patio terrace, in the dining room with a fireplace or at the bar. Lunch menus feature pasta and seafood.
