Vantage, Washington, is a very small community in the Columbia River Gorge in the eastern portion of the state. The population of Vantage hovers at about 70 people, making for limited resources in the region. RV campgrounds can be found in the greater Vantage area. Hiking, mountain biking, rock-climbing, kayaking, canoeing and birdwatching abound in the area, making it a popular outdoor getaway destination.

Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park

Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park has numerous hiking and mountain biking trails as well as camping sites for RV travelers. There are several types of sites for RV campers, including standard (water hookups,) utility (water and 30-amp electric) and primitive (no hookups). There are picnic tables, barbecue grills and fire rings, pit toilets, fresh water spigots and a dump station on the premises. Pets are allowed but must remain leashed in the park. The park campground is popular during summer, and facilities fill up quickly on weekends and holidays. Guests need to be aware that strong winds during the evening are normal and should take precautions to secure and tie down lighter-weight pop-up RVs and tents.

Vantage Riverstone Resort

Vantage Riverstone Resort is a lodge and campground in one. There are sites for most RV sizes, some along the banks of the Columbia River. Kayaking, canoeing and fishing can be found right from the resort grounds. There are hiking trails, children's playgrounds and tent camping sites on the premises, as well as the RV site. Bathrooms, showers, laundry, guest room and a dump station are available. Site hookups include water, sewer and 30- or 50-amp electric. Pets are allowed but must be leashed while on the resort grounds.

Country Cabin Motel and RV Sites

Within a 30-minute drive from Vantage is the Country Cabin Motel and RV Sites. The Country Cabin Motel has 11 RV sites, so visitors should phone ahead to make reservations and check on space availability. The sites have water, sewer and 30-amp electric. Guests may use the on-site bathrooms and showers. There are picnic tables and barbecue grills for guest use. Pets are allowed. The Birder's Corner is within a half-mile of the Country Cabin grounds. Birdwatchers can enjoy the region's many species and try spotting shorebirds along the river, as well as songbirds and birds of prey.
