Marietta, Georgia is located 20 miles northwest of Atlanta, between two of Atlanta's widely visited outdoor recreation areas. The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area contains 48 miles of river in 16 different park units. The Cochran Shoals area permits cycling and mountain biking on certain designated trails, and canoeing, kayaking and rafting are always welcome although portions of the river contain Class 2 rapids. Allatoona Lake is a 12,010 acre reservoir on the Etowah River. Allatoona Lake is popular for swimming, fishing, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

Atlanta Marietta RV Resort Park, formerly known as the Brookwood RV Resort Park-Marietta, is located on the outskirts of Marietta, Georgia, near Southern Polytechnic State University. All RV sites are paved, large enough to include a patio, and feature 20-, 30- and 50-amp electrical service. In addition water and sewer hookups are available at every site. The resort also offers wireless Internet and a 70-channel digital cable TV service at no cost. Shower suites are available on site as well as a coin operated laundromat and propane fuel service. A pool is available during the summer months and daily, weekly and monthly rates are available. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate Atlanta Marietta RV Resort Park's close proximity to the Chattahoochee River. The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area offers fishing for 23 different species of fish and 50 miles of hiking trails in addition to canoeing, kayaking and rafting.

Allatoona Landing Marine Resort

Allatoona Landing Marine Resort is located 22 miles northeast of Marietta, Georgia, on the shores of Lake Allatoona. The campground features 140 individual RV sites each with water, sewer and electrical hookups. Restroom, shower and laundry facilities are available on site. Amenities include a fenced-in pool and playground area for tenants only. In addition there is a public beach that is open on weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day. There is also a general store that offers boating and camping supplies in addition to propane gas and ice. Boat launch and storage facilities are available on site. Allatoona Lake covers 12,010 acres and offers canoeing, kayaking and nature viewing. Fishing for bass and crappy also are popular.

Sweetwater Valley Park

Sweetwater Valley Park is located 28 miles southwest of Marietta, Georgia, and features 36 RV sites situated along Sweetwater Creek. The park features some pull-through sites for larger RVs as well as 30- and 50-amp electrical service. A dump station, bathhouse and laundry facilities are all available on site. There is a playground for children, in addition to basketball and volleyball courts.There are a few short walking trails available within the park. Wildlife viewing and photography are also popular outdoor activities.
