Decatur, Georgia, is a mid-sized community located between metropolitan Atlanta and Stone Mountain. Decatur is considered a suburb of Atlanta. Kayakers, canoeists and anglers can enjoy their sports on the nearby Chattahoochee River. The road bicycling race Tour de Georgia has passed through Decatur, and bicycling enthusiasts can ride the roads of the race while enjoying the pastoral countryside. RV travelers have several options for parks in the greater Decatur area.

Stone Mountain Park

Located a few minutes' drive east of Decatur is Stone Mountain Park. Large and small rigs can be accommodated at Stone Mountain. Hookups include water, cable TV, sewer, Wi-Fi and 30- or 50-amp electric. Stone Mountain Park has showers, private toilets, guest house with kitchen facility, a laundry room, playgrounds, a swimming pool, and a dump station. Pets are welcome but need to be leashed unless in the dog park area. Reservations are recommended during the busy summer months. Road bicyclists can tour the countryside from the Stone Mountain Park.

Jones RV Park

About 20 minutes northeast of Decatur, Jones RV Park has sites to accommodate even the largest of RVs. Pull-through and back-in sites are available. Hookups include 20-, 30- or 50-amp electric, water, sewer and cable TV. The park has showers, bathrooms, picnicking facilities and a coin-operated laundry for guests to use. Pets are allowed. Wi-Fi is available for an extra fee. Hiking and biking opportunities can be found in the nearby North Georgia Mountains.

Suncamp America: Atlanta Marietta RV Park

Just to the west of Winder (approximately 10 minutes' drive) is the Suncamp America RV Park. Open year-round, Suncamp has paved, level sites for most sizes of RVs. There are water, sewer, cable TV, Wi-Fi and 30- or 50-amp electric connections at each site. Patios and gazebos, picnic facilities, barbecue grills, bathrooms and showers and a coin-operated laundry room are on the premises. Pets are allowed. The Chattahoochee River is within an hour's drive. Guests going to the river can swim, inner-tube, kayak, canoe and fish.
