With mountain fishing, hiking, boating and the extensive Ozark Greenways network of trails and green spaces, Springfield, Missouri, has a variety of outdoor activities. Springfield is also the birthplace of the famed Route 66, making it a popular destination for visitors interested in the noted landmark in American history.

Springfield/Route 66 KOA

The KOA is off Route 66. There are pull-thru sites for big rigs, on-site pizza delivery to your campsite and community events such as weekly ice cream socials and breakfast on the weekends. The KOA is a 20-minutes drive from the Bois d'Arc Conservation Area, which has fishing, hunting and hiking, as well as shooting ranges. The KOA also is 24 minutes from Wilson's Creek National Battlefield, sight of a Civil War battle.

Ozark Highlands

Ozark Highlands is an RV park and mobile home community that accommodates short-term visitors.There is a pool and clubhouse as well as full hookups with gas, water and electric. This RV park is about a seven-minute drive from the Springfield Conservation Nature Center, which has hiking and a boardwalk over marshy, shallow sections of Lake Springfield.

Stage Stop RV Park

The park has 75-foot sites for big rigs. Each site has water, sewage and electric hookups. The park is near restaurants, convenience stores, flea markets and antique shops. The park is about a 20-minute drive from Busiek State Forest, with its primitive camping by permit, picnic areas, 18 miles of hiking trails and shooting ranges.
