Campgrounds in Port Austin, Michigan
Port Austin is a small resort town on the tip of Michigan's "thumb," bordering on Saginaw Bay. Campers will find many spots in the area with convenient access to the area's recreational opportunities which include fishing in Lake Huron and hiking in Sleeper and Port Crescent State Park.

Port Crescent State Park

Port Crescent State Park is located two miles west of downtown Port Austin and has three miles of sandy shoreline on Lake Huron. It offers 137 camp sites that include electric, a picnic table and fire ring as well as centrally located water filling stations. There are modern restrooms with private shower located in the center of the campground as well several vault toilets spread throughout. Other amenities include a playground, picnic shelter and beach house as well as a large sandy swimming area just a hundred feet from the campground. Guests will also find three hiking trails that originate from the campground and lead through the forest.

Sleeper State Park

Sleeper State Park is located 12 miles southwest of Port Austin directly on Lake Huron. The park is made up of 723 acres of natural dune habitat and wetlands and offers a 226 site campground set in the forest within a 200-yard walk to the beach. Sites include electric, picnic table and fire ring as well as a central water filling station and modern restroom with private showers. Facility amenities include a playground, picnic area and a beach house along with a nature center building. There are four hiking trails for guest to enjoy which can also be used for mountain biking or cross country skiing in the winter.

Oak Beach County Park Campground

Oak Beach County Park is located five miles west of downtown on 46 acres of Lake Huron waterfront. It offers 55 modern camp sites that include full hook-up sites as well a rustic tent section. Sites include a spacious grass pad, picnic table and central modern restroom with private showers. Facility amenities include a picnic pavilion, playground and horseshoe pits along with a large sports field. Guests have access to a large sandy beach area set up for swimming or sunbathing. There is also a fishing pier in Lake Huron for guests to access the quality fishing for perch.
