Bessemer, Michigan Campgrounds

Bessemer is located in Michigan's Western Upper Peninsula just outside of the Ottawa National Forest. Bessemer's campgrounds are found within the National Forest and offer visitors views of scenic waterfalls along the Black River parkway, hiking trails and several lakes for fishing, swimming and boating. The area is also home to two ski resorts; Big Powderhorn and the Blackjack Resort.

Black River Harbor Campground

The Black River Harbor Campground is open from May to September. This campground has 40 paved camping sites for RVs or tents. Seven of the sites enjoy a view of Lake Superior and all sites feature a fire ring and a picnic table. Facilities include restrooms with flush toilets, RV dump station and a boat launch on Lake Superior. Black River Harbor is home to five short hiking trails varying from 1/4 mile to 1/2 mile and the six mile long North Country Trail. Swimming is permitted but visitors should keep in mind that the water is very cold.

Pomeroy Lake Campground

Pomeroy Lake Campground is open year-round and has 17 campsites with fire rings and picnic tables. One campsite features a handicapped accessible picnic table. The campground is in a wooded area and can accommodate tents and RVs. Facilities consist of a hand-pump supplying drinking water and four vault toilets. A fishing lake with a boat landing is located near the campground and popular catches include walleye, Northern pike, crappie, bass and bluegill.

Bobcat Lake Campground

Bobcat Lake Campground consists of 11 campsites with gravel parking pads, fire rings, lantern posts and picnic tables. Facilities include two handicapped accessible vault toilets and a hand-pump. One of the campsites is also handicapped accessible. A sandy beach and boat ramp are located on Bobcat Lake near the campground. Swimming, canoeing, kayaking and fishing are permitted on the lake. This campground remains open year-round.
