The small town of New Denver sits on the pristine waters of Slocan Lake and is dissected by Carpenter Creek, which empties into the lake. Going upstream, the creek meanders through Denver Canyon where the majestic Valhalla Mountains dominate the skyline. This backcountry offers plenty of outdoor activities and has several wooded trails for hikers and bikers. Panoramic views include the New Denver Glacier. The creek and lake provide good fishing, plus kayaking and canoeing opportunities.

Valhalla Inn

The Valhalla Inn is just one block from Union Street, New Denver's main strip and is just a 2-minute walk from the lake. The inn features standard rooms, as well as suites and accommodations with kitchenettes. Guests can dine at the inn's cafeteria, and a pub is also on site. The inn arranges ATV (all-terrain vehicles) and motorcycle tours in the summer, and snowmobiling and sledding in the winter. Guests can also hike nearby Idaho Peak and cool off in the lake during the warmer months.

Sweet Dreams Guesthouse

The Sweet Dreams Guesthouse is near the lake in New Denver. The guesthouse features five guest rooms with lounging areas. Rooms include either a queen-sized bed or two double beds, while one room has two doubles plus a single bed. Guests share three bathrooms. The guesthouse serves international cuisine in the dining room and, on nice evenings, on the outdoor patio.

Mistaya Country Inn

The Mistaya Country Inn is in nearby Silverton, a 5-minute drive south of New Denver. The cozy log cabin sits on 90 acres nestled against forestry leading up a steep ridge. Roaming the grounds are Norwegian Fjord horses that the inn breeds and trains. Guests can choose from three different bedrooms, each offering a unique view of the surrounding scenery. Guests share a spacious lounge that has a fireplace and small library, and provides panoramic views of the Valhalla Mountains. A family-style dining room and country kitchen with a wood stove are on-site for meals. The inn's grounds also feature a picnic area, fire pits, walking trails and an outdoor hot tub.
