Cherokee, North Carolina, is a mid-size community near the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Visitors can enjoy the many hiking trails in the mountains, as well as opportunities for road bicycling the many rural roads and routes of the region, mountain biking singletrack in the state forests and parks, and rock-climbing in the Smokey Mountains. RV parks can be found in the Cherokee region.

Cherokee/Great Smokies KOA

Cherokee/Great Smokies KOA has sites for RVs to 100 feet in length as there are pull-through sites over 100 feet. Slide-out RVs are no problem at the KOA. Site hookups include 30- or 50-amp electric, cable TV, Wi-Fi, sewer and water. Guests have access to a swimming pool, guest house with kitchen, showers and bathrooms, playground and a dog play area where four legged visitors can romp off-leash. Visitors looking for a rigorous mountain hike can try the 6,642 feet Clingmans Dome Trail in Great Smokey Mountain National Park.

Yogi in the Smokies

Yogi in the Smokies is a Yogi Bear Jellystone RV Park and Campground. There are RV sites for most size rigs, and hookups for water, sewer, cable TV and 30- or 50-amp electric come standard at the campsites. There are dog parks where your dogs can romp and play off-leash. Guests can use the showers, bathrooms, coin-operated laundry room, swimming pool, stocked fishing pond, playground and recreation center. Hikers and mountain bikers can head to Mingo Falls Trail, within 30 minutes of the campground. There they can ride or hike to the top of 200 foot Mingo Falls. River activities include rafting and inner tubing, which can be arranged from the campground.

Flaming Arrow Campground

Flaming Arrow Campground is 1 mile from Cherokee. RV sites can accommodate large and small RVs. Site hookups include standard water, sewer, Wi-Fi, cable TV and 30- or 50-amp electric. The location is central to whitewater rafting on the Nantahala River, hiking in the Great Smokey Mountains and fishing the lakes and tributaries off of the Nantahala. Pets are welcome at the Flaming Arrow if leashed. Bathrooms, showers, picnic facilities, swimming pool, recreation and game room and a dump station are on the premises for guest use and convenience.
