Smithfield, Kentucky, is a small town outside Louisville in the rolling bluegrass country. The region is known for horse breeding and racing. Visitors to the area can take guided horseback trails rides and tours of racehorse stables. Road cyclists can take advantage of the numerous country roads and rural routes for touring. Follow the River RV Resort is just across the Indiana state line and offers sites for most RV sizes. All sites come with either 30- or 50-amp electric, water and sewer. Wi-Fi is available for guest use. Pets are allowed but must be leashed except in the pet play areas. Showers, bathrooms and a laundry are on the premises, as are a playground, recreation room, barbecue grills and sports courts. White-water kayakers can find rapids and eddys on the Little Kentucky River. Hikers can head to Mammoth Caves National Park.
