Once visitors decide on a park, the surrounding region offers satisfying outdoor opportunities including hiking through old growth forest in the Rowe Woods, road biking along the 26-mile Little Miami River, canoeing down the North Fork of the Licking River or cycling at a leisurely pace along the Ohio River.

Stonelick State Park

Stonelick State Park is located 29 minutes from Milford. Campers will find 114 back-in sites from which to choose. Primitive and partial hookup sites are offered. The park has a dump station, bathroom, showers, playground, volleyball, basketball, tetherball and sheltered picnic areas. Pet specific sites are available. Worth mentioning are the parks handful of hiking trails including the two-mile Beechtree Trail and the two-mile Red Fox Trail. Stonelick is notable for its density of fossils including trilobite and cephalopods.

East Fork State Park

East Fork State Park is located 30 minutes from Milford. Visitors choose between 384 back-in sites. Primitive, partial hookups with electric only and full hookup sites are available. The park has a dump station, bathroom, showers, playground, boat ramp and swimming area on William H. Harsha Lake. The park also has sites designated for horses and pets. Once camp is set up, backpackers can hike the 32-mile Steven Newman Worldwalker Perimeter Trail.

Steamboat Bend Campground

Steamboat Bend Campground is located 23 minutes from Milford. Guests will discover 55 back-in and pull-through sites. Partial hookups include water and 30-amp service. The campground has picnic tables, fire rings, boat launch and a dump station. No bathrooms or showers are provided so campers must be self contained. This campground is set inside Woodland Mound Park on a low cliff that overlooks the Ohio River. The park offers an 18-hole Frisbee golf course, nature center and walking trails.
