Perry, Michigan, is centrally located in the Lower Peninsula less then an hour's drive from Detroit and Lansing. Campers will find several campgrounds within 10 miles of Perry that are close to recreational amenities, including fishing in the Shiawassee River and hiking in Sleepy Hollow State Park.

Sleepy Hollow State Park

Sleepy Hollow State Park is located 10 miles northwest of Perry and contains 2,678 acres. It has 181 campsites that have electric hookups, picnic tables and fire rings, along with access to modern restrooms with private showers. The park contains the Little Maple River, which has been dammed to create the 408-acre Lake Orvid. The lake has a large beach area for guests, a beach house and a concession stand that is open on weekends. There is also a boat launch for guests to access the lake, which has quality fishing for bluegill and large-mouth bass. Visitors can also find several hiking trails mostly in the forested area with the maximum length being 16 miles.

Moon Lake Campground

Moon Lake Campground is located six miles west of Perry on 34-acre Colby Lake. It offers a variety of sites, which include full hookups, partial hookups and rustic sites, some located on the lake front. Facility amenities include modern bathhouse with private showers, laundry rooms and sanitation station, along with a clubhouse and picnic pavilion. There is a boat launch and fishing pier for guests to access fishing for bluegill and perch in Colby Lake. Moon Lake Campground also has a large sandy beach area that includes a swim area, playground and volleyball court.

Walnut Hills Family Campground

Walnut Hills Campground is located 11 miles east of Perry on the Shiawassee River in Durand, Michigan. It offers 200 grass campsites on more than 55 acres, with one mile of shoreline on the river. Sites include water and electric hookups as well as picnic tables and fire rings. Facility amenities include modern restrooms with private showers, two picnic pavilions and a camp store with food and fishing bait. Walnut Hills has many recreational activities for its guests, which include volleyball, basketball and an arcade room as well as two playgrounds and wagon rides. There is canoe and tube rental on site as well as many good fishing access points along the shoreline.
