Campgrounds in Silver Bay, Minnesota
Silver Bay, Minnesota boasts dramatic cliffs overlooking Lake Superior--known as the world's largest freshwater lake with a surface area of 31,700 square miles. Fishing is a popular activity as trout, walleye, chinook salmon, coho salmon and pink salmon are abundant in Lake Superior. Plenty of other recreational opportunities are available in Silver Bay year-round. Outdoor adventurists can find many campgrounds located near the lake.

Tettegouche State Park

With natural features like rocky steep cliffs, inland bluffs and waterfalls, Tettegouche State Park campground is sure to please avid hikers. The campground offers tents sites, group campsites and cabin units. The camp has shower facilities, picnic tables, lodge shelter, fire ring and barbecue grills. Cabins include the use of a canoe, paddles and life vests available at the park office. Activities include bird-watching, fishing, canoeing, hiking, rock climbing, cross-country skiing and mountain climbing. Hiking trails overlook the Sawtooth Mountains and passes inland lakes. Note that the campground in only accessible by foot through a 3.5-mile trek from the main park trailhead.

Wildhurst Lodge & Campground

Wildhurst Lodge & Campground offers tent sites, log cabins, and RV sites. The campground is located in the Sawtooth Mountains providing access to many recreational trails. Activities include fishing, snowmobiling, rock climbing, hunting, skiing, canoeing and hiking. The campground has canoe and snowmobile rentals. Amenities include firewood supply, shower facilities, dump station, electric hookups, camp store, fishing lakes and streams. RV sites have water and electric hookups. Charter fishing boats are also available nearby.

Split Rock Lighthouse State Park

Situated right on the North Shore of Lake Superior, this camp offers many recreational opportunities like cross-country skiing, hiking and fishing. Hikers can tread the well-known Superior Hiking Trail while anglers can cast their lines for salmon, brown trout and lake trout. The camp has tent sites and cart-in sites. Showers facilities are available and are handicap accessible.
