Wrightstown, New Jersey Restaurants

Wrightstown, New Jersey Restaurants
Situated near historic Fort Dix, the small borough of Wrightstown, New Jersey isn't far from many of the Garden State's parks and preserves--not to mention the swimming and sunbathing pleasures of the Jersey Shore. About 30 minutes from the town lies Brendan T. Byrne State Forest. With 36,647 acres of pine forest and Atlantic white cedar swamp, as well as 25 miles of trails, this family-friendly site offers opportunities for biking, hiking, horseback riding, snowshoeing, camping and cross-country skiing. Reflecting the South Jersey's farming history, active blueberry and cranberry bogs are common in this area, so take time for a visit. If that makes you hungry, Wrightstown has several dining options.

Sebastian's Schnitzelhaus

If you're hungry for some schnitzel, then Sebastian's Schnitzelhaus is your kind of place. This German restaurant specializes in the breaded, fried meat dish, a classic staple of Austrian cuisine. Start off with some herring salad or Kortoffelpuffer (potato salad) before diving into an array of schnitzel platters. Pork lovers should try the Schweine Schnitzel, hunter-style Jager Schnitzel in cream sauce or gypsy-style Ziguener Schnitzel with a bevy of vegetables. Get the veal deal with Kalbs Schnitzel Natur, made from broiled tender cutlets or try W Schnitzel, which is the mother of all schnitzels. If schnitzel isn't your thing, try some rumpsteak or fried flounder and slurp it down with a bowl of Bavarian liver dumpling soup. Sebastian's does not serve alcohol, but keeps an open mind about the BYOB dining experience.

Kelly's Bar

Echoing the history of nearby Fort Dix, Kelly's Bar was constructed in the 1940s as a United Service Organization (USO) "place to be" for troops training in the area. Today, it serves what one might expect of a New Jersey restaurant and tavern. This establishment offers pizza, club sandwiches, meatball Parmesan, hot wings, cheese steak and more. In addition to the food, it's also a bar, so you can find plenty to drink as well as video games, pool tables and music to keep you entertained.
