Newport sits right on the southern edge of Rhode Island, near the Atlantic Ocean. Travelers often visit the area for the numerous outdoor activities, as well as the shopping and historic museums. You're only minutes from swimming, fishing, boating, golfing, hiking and deep sea fishing. While the town has only one campground, you'll find RV parks near Newport.

Dunes RV Park

Less than an hour from Newport is the Dunes RV Park. This park is best suited for those planning an extended stay because the campground has a large number of permanent residents, including those living in mobile homes. The RV campground doesn't provide any amenities, but does have restrooms, 24-hour security and concrete pads for parking your camper. When you stay at the Dunes RV Park, you're only minutes away from golfing and less than 15 minutes away from beaches.

Mystic KOA

The Mystic area KOA campground is less than an hour from Newport and provides spots for RV campers. The RV campground is less than 10 minutes from beaches, and has two swimming pools on site. Some guests may prefer the bicycle rentals, fishing pond, miniature golf course and other activities offered by the campground for guests.

Worden Pond Family Campground

Less than 20 miles from Newport is the Worden Pond Family Campground, which is also only 15 minutes from some of the more popular beaches in the area. Guests have access to fishing and swimming in the campground, volleyball courts, basketball courts, playgrounds and horseshoe pits. This RV campground has spots available for overnight stays and extended stays.

Meadowlark RV Park

The Meadowlark RV Park is the only RV campground in the Newport area, but keep in mind that it's also used as a full-time community for some travelers. The RV campground doesn't provide many amenities for guests, but it is close to several popular outdoor attractions and activities, including boating, fishing and deep sea fishing. Guests are also close to several golf courses.
