Campgrounds Near Starved Rock in Illinois
Starved Rock, Illinois is a popular outdoor recreation area near Utica, Illinois. Hike year round, cross country ski in the winter and enjoy the bald eagles and other wildlife. Trail run the trails or canoe the river front. You can even catch your dinner from the water. Camp in Starved Rock or at a nearby campground to recharge after a day of recreational fun.

Starved Rock Campground

Located in Starved Rock Park, the campground has 100 reserve-by-mail sites and 33 first come, first served sites. The location provides easy access to the eleven miles of hiking and running trails and fishing opportunities at the western end of the park. The campground has a dump station, electricity, flush toilets and showers. Seven sites are handicapped/accessible. No alcohol is allowed on the campground. The camp store has camping supplies such as ice, soda and firewood. There is a playground for kids and sites have picnic tables and fire pits.

Papa Murph's Campground

Papa Murph's is a very primitive grass campground next to Grizzly Jack's Grand Bear Resort & Indoor Water Park. It is less than a mile from Starved Rock Park and five minutes from canoeing on the Vermilion River. The campground is on the property adjacent to Papa Murph's Tavern, which sells firewood, ice and food, and has pool tables are available for camp guests to use. Grab carryout food and drinks from the Tavern or cook your own dinner in a fire pit--there are picnic tables at each site. Camp guests also have use of the restaurant bathroom during business hours.

White Oak Campground

The White Oak Campground is located right next to Starved Rock Park. Explore the 3,000 year old Indian mound, swim and play in the sand and hike Curtis Canyon--all part of the campground surroundings. If you are looking for electricity or just a flat spot to pitch a tent, White Oak has both. Full bathrooms with showers, picnic tables and shaded camp spots are available. The campground has a dump station and a store which sells groceries and firewood. The campground is alcohol-free.
