When you are seated, you will find that your table has been preset with chopsticks and sushi plates. The restaurant is only open for dinner on Mondays through Saturdays. Benihana, located on 56th Street, is a franchise Japanese restaurant that specializes in grilled steaks. This can be seen by the restaurant's teppanyaki tables, where the chef prepares the food in front of his patrons, all the while entertaining them with humor and stories. The seating arrangements at these tables can accommodate large groups of people. Benihana is open for lunch and dinner every day of the week. The menu has hearty steak selections such as hibachi steak, teriyaki steak and the imperial, a New York steak strip. At the teppanyaki tables, you will be offered Japanese onion soup and salad with ginger dressing. Benihana also has a sushi bar and hosts private functions, such as parties and receptions.

Japonais Restaurant

After spending the day at Battery Park, go to Japonais Restaurant, a vibrant restaurant in Lower Manhattan. Opened since 2006, Japonais has intimate, contemporary décor, which can be seen in the restaurant's brick walls and tree sculpture that stands in the middle of the dining floor. The restaurant has over 290 seats that can accommodate romantic dates, as well as large group gatherings. Japonais not only serves steaks, but modern Japanese cuisine and sushi as well. Japonais is open for lunch from Monday through Friday, as well as dinner from Monday through Saturday; the restaurant is closed on Sunday. The menu at Japonais features steak dishes that include dry-aged rib-eye, Japanese ribs and "The Rock", a New York strip steak. Japonais also has a lounge on its upper level, the Red Room, and hosts private parties and events.
