Little River, Tennessee Campgrounds
Little River, Tenn., is a small community between Knoxville and Maryville near the Tennessee River. The Little River itself, which is nearby, is a scenic river that runs to the south through Townsend. There are several campgrounds in this area, and plenty of natural beauty. The river splits rolling hills and there are countless small streams with abundant wildlife and fish; much of the river can be traveled by boat. Many trails go through the wooded areas, and along the rivers and streams in this part of the state.
The Great Smoky Mountain National Park is near some of the campgrounds, and the Little River itself begins in the park.

Misty River Cabins and RV Resort

Misty River Cabins and RV Resort is a camping paradise in Walland, TN., located and on the banks of the Little River. The four cabins are just a few feet from the river, and all have fully-equipped kitchens. Two of the cabins are one-room structures and sleep four. The other two have two rooms and can sleep up to eight. They all have fireplaces., microwaves and televisions.

There are 54 RV sites, as well as pop-up sites and tent camping. The RV sites have 30-amp and 50-amp connections. The sites have water and sewer connections; cable TV and free Wi-Fi are also available. The campground has modern bathhouses, a swimming pool, and pavilions for use by groups.

Misty River was named campground of the year by the Tennessee Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds. Nearby is the Appalachian Trial, and there are other trails by the rivers. Also nerarby is Tuckaleechee Caverns. There are also many options for water sports, such as fishing or white water rafting. Horseback riding is also available nearby. Also nearby is the Cades Cove loop, which is a 12-mile road around an early settlement area.

Up the Creek RV Camp

The Up the Creek RV Camp is in a beautiful wooded area near Pigeon Forge, Tenn., about 16 miles from Little River. The campground has 30 RV sites with 30- and 50-amp service. The RV sites are wooded and secluded, and all have full hookups. Cable-TV and Wi-Fi are available. Half of the RV sites are beside the creek and have great views. There are no restrooms or shower facilities, and there is no tent camping. The owners say they designed the campground specifically for RV camping.

Volunteer Park Family Campground

The Volunteer Park Family Campground is about 15 miles north, on the other side of Knoxville. This campground has full hookups for RVs, including cable TV and free Wi-Fi. RV rentals are also available. There are 30 RV sites with 30- and 50-amp service.

Volunteer Park offers a wooded tent camping area, heated swimming pools, exercise rooms, a grocery store and an ice cream store. The campground is close to Knoxville, but also close to lakes, rivers and mountains which makes it a good base for outdoor adventures. The campground has a creek running beside it, and has nature trails on the site.
