Campers driving through east Texas will find a variety of RV parks in the Henderson area. Those seeking time outdoors are drawn to mountain biking on the single-track trail at Martin Creek Lake State Park, trying to spot wood storks while hiking the 560-mile shoreline of Sam Rayburn Resevoir or road biking on the Texas State Railroad Challenge, a difficult 21.7-mile loop through hilly terrain.

Martin Creek Lake State Park

Martin Creek Lake State Park is a 31-minute drive northeast of Henderson. Sixty sites are designed with big-rig access in mind. No pull-through sites are available. Hookups include 50-amp electric and water. Campers are responsible for their own sewage. The campground sits next to a lake and offers a park trail, some of which follows Trammel's Trace, a Native American trail used for centuries and later used by migrating settlers. The park has a boat ramp and dock, picnic and barbecue areas, playground, bathrooms, showers and laundry room. Visitors can swim and fish in the lake.

Lake Tyler Marina & RV Park

Lake Tyler Marina & RV Park can be reached by driving 51 minutes west of Henderson. Campers choose among 100 sites that can accommodate both pull-through and big-rig vehicles. Hookups include 30- and 50-amp electric, water and sewer. The park has a boat ramp, picnic area, restaurant, fire pits, camp store, bathroom and showers, laundry room, dump station and fuel. The park sits on the water between Lake Tyler and Concession Park. A number of high-profile bass fishing tournaments are held on the lake.

H & H RV Park

H & H RV Park is a six-minute drive south of Henderson. Visitors choose from 43 sites with spaces for big-rig RVs. No pull-through sites are available. Twenty-three sites have patios. Hookups include 20-, 30- and 50-amp electric, water and sewer. The park has a picnic area with table, laundry facilities, free Wi-Fi and a dump site.
